GW has been a blast since release(still havin fun). however everything that ive done will be to no avail when gw2 comes out...besides WoW, what are some good mmorpgs that wont lose all value in a few year(not to start a flame war but all the time ive spent in gw will mean nothing when gw2 comes out, the hom carryovers can be accomplished in 1 night...well at least 30/50)?

In order to ensure that you get the longest out of them, you're probably going to be looking at new releases. So, I'd look into Rift and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

This is not a very good indication of how long a MMORPG will last Im afraid;

Age of Conan
Warhammer Online
Hellgate London

Aion (turning out to be that way already as far as I can tell)

lets wait and see if Guild Wars 2 can manage to stay off of similar lists in the future.

You have to see how the MMO is built up and how players accept it befroe you can judge how successful they will be.
